I shoot handheld, with a medium format camera and highspeed film. I avoid the use of a tripod so I can have the freedom to explore my surroundings without being weighed down by equipment. The experience of shooting in Israel was a turning point and challenge in my work. It was a wonderful surprise to expect a war-torn landscape, and instead find an incredible and beautiful country. Much of my inspiration comes from living in Maine, and my friends and colleagues who are artists and photographers.
